Question to my readers
So my drivers license has officially been suspended by the great state of Illinois. I haven’t taken my 91 Dodge Spirit in for the emissions test. I’ve been afraid that it wont pass. It’s got 144 thousand miles on it. If it doesn’t pass, I don’t want to spend another thousand dollars getting the damned thing fixed. It just isn’t worth it. But now that they’ve suspended my license I kinda have to go. So I took the car today after waiting in line for 1/2 an hour and making up little rhyming prayers to the gods of cars and emissions tests I find out that my car wont even be tested! It’s leaking oil… Now what do I do? Do I take it somewhere and have the leak fixed? Only to take it in to emit and find that it didn’t pass anyway so I’m out the cash I paid to fix the oil leak and now I’ll either have to get it fixed or get rid of it? I don’t know… I don’t know what to do. So I’m asking for votes from my peanut gallery… Do I fix the leak or dump the car? My thought is to give it to Victory Auto Wreckers let them sell whatever parts are worth selling. Or maybe there’s someone there who can fix what’s wrong with it and make it last longer.

Plusses to keeping the car:
I can go to the grocery store, Target, and anywhere in town when I feel like it and not worry about how much I can carry.
Plusses to getting rid of the car:
save money on insurance, not pay $75 city sticker fee, no buy gas, not worry about moving car for street cleaning.
negatives to getting rid of car:
I’ve lost the title to my car I’ll need to get a new one to get rid of it – costs $$, I wont be able to properly grocery shop anymore, I’ll totally have to rely on public transport for all my travel needs. I’ll have to clean the thing out.. there may be something alive in the back seat.
negatives to keeping the car:
pay money to fix it, pay money on insurance and city sticker and license plates, buy gas, move car to other side of street constantly for street cleanings. The car doesn’t really get me all over the Chicagoland area it only works for short trips within a small distance.
So there’s the pros and cons… I’ll be watching for your votes to help me with this decision. I’m going to need to know soon cuz I’m going to have to buy a city sticker shortly if I’m going to keep this thing.
