More info on the stolen radio
Since I was using my cell phone yesterday to document the theft of the 3rd radio from the boy’s Toyota, I couldn’t type too much cuz ya know, this phone doesn’t intuit what you’re trying to say, you gotta hit each key the correct number of times to get the letter to show up…ugh…not fun.
Here’s the story, yesterday at work I’m having trouble doing anything because the brilliant IT guys updated the OS and machines for our servers. Well, anyone NOT on a Mac is now unable to access the servers. They had it fixed, but as of yesterday I couldn’t save anything onto the servers. They fixed it but then it still was wonky, I could open documents but when I tried to save them it suddenly locked me out of the document and I couldn’t get back in. It was torment to have to save to my desk top then drag it back to the server and of course the lines of communication in this place sucks like…well…I wont go there…cuz I don’t wanna have people searching for bad things and then have me show up…I’d rather continue to be the first hit when searching for “Flemmy Throat” so left work late, got the late train home…get to the parking lot…walk around the car and I see…glass all over..
Me: (to myself) crap, watch where you step…(as I look up to the passenger car window that is not there cuz it’s all over the ground)…Fuuuu… (out loud I say:) Dude…don’t touch anything, come look at this!
The boy: What?
Me: COME HERE!
The boy: Oh…no…they took the radio..
Me: (noticing the doors are unlocked) Did they break the window with the doors unlocked?
The boy: No, I had unlocked the car before you shouted
So yeah, we’re in the one train parking lot WITHOUT cameras so our window is smashed so they can steal a car radio that’s worth about $150. And they stole a lame laptop computer that is like 3 years old and possibly doesn’t work. And I can’t believe the boy left that computer IN THE CAR!?! Ugh… Fortunately they didn’t open the glove box and steal the CDs that are in a case in there. I forgot about my CDs.
But yeah this is the boy’s 3rd stolen radio. The first was his X’s kid who didn’t know what he was doing and cut the major artery of electrical wires in the dash so that the boy had to have them remove the ENTIRE DASHBOARD to put in a brand new artery thingie (I don’t remember what that thing is called – but his insurance company was not pleased). the second one, they only broke the little side window on the back seat…not too expensive to replace and that radio sucked anyway….it LOOKED cool, but c’mon you don’t make a car radio without station pre-set buttons…that’s just stupid. And now this radio…a JVC cd player with station presets and it was Sirius satellite ready, but we didn’t hook up the satellite because it’s not worth it unless you drive a lot or listen to a lot of radio, which we don’t do.
But yeah… that’s the story. The boy has a $1,000 deductible so he’s gotta pay to replace the passenger window. He’s got someone who’ll come to the house tomorrow to replace it for $200, not as bad as I was expecting. But yeah… not fun at all.
