Stupid Machines
So Eric Zorn of the Tribune hates his “tivo” and I feel his pain. He doesn’t actually HAVE a TIVO, he’s got the same thing I have, he’s got a Dish Network DVR box kinda like our HD Dish box So like, you’ll set it to record something each week on say, Wednesday at 7pm, but then the President has to talk or something and now your show is pushed back like, 45 minutes so when you get home, you see the first 45 minutes of the President talking and 15 minutes of your show. He wants this thing to KNOW that the Pres is talking and the adjust the recording time accordingly. I agree…however my beef with this box is that it’s so smart, it has TV listings for like 2 weeks and it shows HD and regular stuff so I can record a channel and watch another…but WHY WHY WHY does it not realize today is WEDNESDAY and when it starts to record my linup for THURSDAY!?! That’s right, my stupid box FORGETS WHAT DAY IT IS! I’ve got the whole guide for WEDNESDAY on screen but the frickin piece of crap thinks it’s recording shows that are on, on THURSDAY…and it’s just not with Wednesday/Thursday shows either….this stupid box does this ALL THE TIME no matter what day of the week it is… You want to record Gilmore Girls on Tuesday….well, it’ll start recording it at 7pm ON MONDAY! Yeah…DISH…FIX YOUR CRAP! I love my Dish but it pisses me off when the technology doesn’t know what fracking day it is!!
