<\/a>We have two coffee makers in the kitchen here at PWIW (place where I work). One is a K-cup thingie, makes single cups of coffee with the touch of a button. The other is your standard homebrewing coffee pot (although vastly inferior to the one I inherited from my father).
Bossman looks at the pot of coffee, “Is that fresh?”
“No, that was there when I came in.”
“Oh,” he says looking sullen.
“We can make more,” I say happily, pulling open the drawer of packages of Starbucks coffee that I will never ever drink.
“How does this thing work?”
I observe the machine thinking it can’t be that difficult, put in a filter pour in the bag of coffee, fill it with water, press on button…
If only it were that easy…
I open the cabinet and grab a filter, at the same time some hidden cup of “Raspberry, makes 2 quarts” powder falls into the coffemaker’s water holding spot. I’m too short to see all the way in, but standing on my toes I can reach the cup of powder and pull it out. I put the filter in place and start to rip open the package of coffee, as I tear open the pack, it splits down the center pouring coffee grounds all over me, the counter, the floor….some grounds made it into the filter.
Meanwhile bossman is filling the pot to pour into the maker, he’s taller than me and can see that the powder made some “raspberry” in the water tank of the coffeemaker. He tilts it so I can see the pinkish liquid, yeah, we don’t wan that in the coffee…eww. We unplug the maker, and he rinses it out in the sink.
I have now discovered that there are no more paper towels for wiping off the coffeemaker, the grounds off the floor…nor is there a broom. Who’s responsible for ordering this stuff!?! Once the maker is rinsed we reassemble the filter, coffee, etc and turn it on. The machine makes it’s gurgling noises and starts to trickle out a very very tiny amount of coffee (hence, the reason why this machine is inferior to mine). It’ll take about 2 hours before there’s a full pot of coffee. But in the end, we did it. And yeah, no one wants us working together on coffee again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
