SUCKAGE!

Moving Sucks

It bites the big wazoo quite frankly. This has been the worst move in the history of moving. Everything that could go wrong did. We seriously pissed off the Gods of Moving. I guess I didn’t sacrifice the correct pork roast or something. What exactly are you supposed to sacrifice to the Gods of Moving anyway? Maybe you’re meant to sacrifice boxes or rolls of tape? Or maybe you’re meant to break a glass or something? The POD wasn’t big enough (which I knew on sight, but Yo Master D said that the Pod People said it’d work – I snickered, made the face and said, “Ooookaaay”). So once I was proved correct we went and got a Uhaul, which yeah, wasn’t big enough for the remainder stuff either. So a week later, there’s still stuff in the garage at the old place. We managed to get the rest of the old house empty and clean. Apparently, jerk landlord didn’t like my flower pots cuz last night when we went for yet another load of crap they had moved them off the front porch…whatever…he can eat me for all I care, Assclown! I hope the Gods of Selling Homes frown on you! This move made me miss the premiere of Lost and The Nine. I also missed this week’s Gilmore Girls and the season finale of Eureka. Yeah, the TV Addict was getting the shakes. Five days of being hot, sweaty, grubby and achy is about 4 days too many for me. I was glad to get back to work on Thursday. I never thought I’d be glad to get back to the office. But I needed to feel human again, I needed the normal routine. Wednesday morning LG calls me bitching cuz I wasn’t there. I did leave her a message telling her that I wouldn’t be in, but she was all pissy. Like I wanted to spend yet another day hauling boxes up and down the stairs another 40 times in one day. Like I wanted another day of hot sweaty gross labor. All I wanted was to shower, put on nice clothes and sit at my desk. I didn’t want anymore of this moving crap. Whatever, when I’m not there she acts like it’s such an inconvience for her. But the thing that gets me is that she said, “If I knew you were going to be out all this time I’d have brought someone in.” Who is she going to bring in? I was off for a week when M was in town and she didn’t bring anyone in to be me. not that’d be easy for someone to just come in and do my job. Not like she could train anyone to use the database. It’s always such a drama for her. Poor overworked LG. boo hoo.
I’m sad though leaving the old house and neighborhood. I was really liking it out there. They were building a buch of new stores just up the road. Michael’s was finally going to be close by. Now I have no idea where any craft stores are, much less the grocery store or Home Depot. It was awesome having my choice of grocery stores to go to, and Home Depot and Target just up the road. Then we got a Big Lots, although I wasn’t terribly impressed with Big Lots. But the Woodmans that came along a few months ago, I was excited to go there. Woodmans has Hobnobs! Hobnobs were a short jaunt up the road. And now, they’re gone forever. No more Hobnobs for me. I have no idea where Rocco went. Yo Master D put him in a box and didn’t label it. Boxes are everywhere. Nothing is really set up. We finally got the bed set up last night. Let me tell you, a queen sized air mattress is not big enough for 2 people and 2 dogs.
The Mabel seems to be handling this very well. She wanted to start exploring as soon as I opened her cage. She’s been hissing at the dogs and rubbing against all the boxes. I need to get her a cat tree so that she can get up to the windows. I was worried she’d be all hiding again like last time. But she’s good. She seems to be getting much bolder, which is good. She can’t keep letting the dogs push her around. Well, I’ve got boxes to unpack, tables to assemble, cabinets that need to be vacuumed out (gross!!) so that I can put things away. I’m not sure if I’ll like it here. But I know I’m not going to be moving again anytime soon.
