Brush with “fame”

Today I met the man behind the Chicago bus shelters (as seen above in a photo found via Google Image Search). Yes, I met Mr Decaux himself! And ya know, when I found out he was coming to the meeting I was impressed. Call me simple, call me crazy, call me easily impressed…but no matter how you look at it, I thought it was cool that the MAN himself was coming to my office.

He’s not very tall, and he’s quite thin. And he’s got an awesome French/British accent. I say French/British because SG thought he sounded French, I thought he sounded British. And she’s like, but Decaux is French and I said, France isn’t far from Britian…

Oh…and to prove Mr Decaux doesn’t screen receptionists well, when I called their offices (the ones in New York cuz I was looking for info on advertising in a mall in Denver and the Denver number I found didn’t work) this is what went down:

Receptionist: JC Decaux how may I help you?
Me: I’d like to speak to someone regarding advertising in a mall in Denver.
Receptionist: Is Denver near Chicago?
Me: Uh? Denver is in COLORADO…Chicago is in ILLINOIS

So his staff may not be brilliant…but his accent is hot…I could listen to him talk for HOURS…

RE: Loser

For those of you who may not have read in the comments to the last post I announced that I am indeed a “loser” but not the kind of loser the email in the post referrs to, I am a loser in that I’ve lost 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks. I joined Weight Watchers. Yesterday was my 3rd meeting. The first week I lost 4 pounds, this past week only 1. and I’m working on my third week. I’ve chosen the “Flex Points” system because I thought that might be better for me. The “Core” plan lets you eat certain foods and then you count points for things not on the list. I felt that would lead to madness in that I’d say… “Chicken is a core food…I can eat this whole bucket from KFC!” as opposed to “I’ve only got 10 points left for the day…I’d better not eat that whole cake…but one tiny sliver would be fine”

So far these are my troubles…

On the message boards at the WW website they say you should eat all the points for the day and try not to go under. Well…this counting points thing is causing me to be extremely paranoid about what I’m eating and I have more days where I don’t meet the points than when I do. Which according to the other ladies eating under the points could cause your body to think that it’s in “starvation mode” and start to store up the food rather than burn it off. So do I attempt the madness of the Core plan or do I just try to eat more food?

The amount of fruit & vegetable servings they recommend you eat are insane… I’m just not that into vegetables…5 servings in ONE day… ugh

The 3 servings of dairy per day are completely out of the question. One serving of dairy per WEEK…that I can do, anything more than that and you’re just being mean to me. I’m lactose intolerant here folks…I’ll be in terrible trouble if I eat more than one full serving of dairy in a week. And yes, I tried…2 days back to back had me in a bad place by the second afternoon…

And 8 glasses of water in one day?! Are you people OUT OF YOUR MIND?!? I’ll be peeing like a pregnant woman if I drink that much water! My stomach will be sloshing around all over the place.

So those are my current struggles…just wait until I get up the energy to try exercising!
